So, it is about time I told you some more about Sarah and Martijn’s Audleys Wood wedding in Hampshire in April! If you remember, I met up with Sarah and Martijn back in March for what must have been the coldest pre-wedding shoot on record.
I’m still trying to warm up now!
I remember thinking as I drove down to their wedding venue that they fully deserved the 20 degree temperatures for enduring that biting cold wind in Hyde Park a few weeks earlier.
It was really great having both of them getting ready at the same hotel as I was able to move between rooms, see everyone before the proceedings got under way and got to really soak up the pre-wedding atmosphere. It was great fun! Sarah and Martijn’s wedding was a truly global affair, but I expected nothing less seeing a Kiwi and Dutchman were getting married. Guests had literally come from all over the world to be here, maybe they think the UK has this weather all the time!
Sarah’s bridesmaids were helping Sarah get ready, but none more so than Kelly who did Sarah’s make up on the day. Sarah looked stunning in her Essence of Australia wedding dress too.
When I asked them what their wedding would be like, they said traditional English, with Dutch and Kiwi twists. And that was a pretty good description! From the traditional New Zealand singing before and after the ceremony, to the fiery Dutch orange bridal flowers to the nine (yes nine!) speeches spoken in a variety of languages. I have to hand it to Martijn who did his speech in Dutch and English. And I’d recommend anyone to do this as you get two rounds of laughter on the funny bits! Great job! 🙂
Congratulations Sarah and Martijn, it has been great getting to know you both and I wish you all the best for the future!
